Fort Worth firefighters knocked down a fire at a six-story commercial high-rise near Hulen Mall yesterday, containing the flames without any reported injuries after a major multi-unit response. Crews brought the blaze under control in about an hour and declared the fire out shortly before 10 p.m., while investigators remained on scene to determine how it started.
Timeline and response
According to WFAA, the first 911 call came in shortly after 8:20 p.m., and the incident was quickly upgraded to a three-alarm response. More than two dozen units converged on the 4200 block of South Hulen Street, and firefighters had the flames under control shortly after 9 p.m. Crews then stayed on scene to fully extinguish the fire shortly before 10 p.m.
Fire department capacity and on-scene work
The Fort Worth Fire Department operates dozens of stations across a broad service area, a setup officials say allows rapid multi-unit responses to large structure fires. That capability helped crews ventilate the building and keep the incident contained to the commercial structure in the busy Hulen Mall corridor.
Investigation and safety
Investigators continued working to get inside the building to determine a cause, and officials reported no injuries at the scene. "No injuries were reported," Fort Worth Fire Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek told WFAA as crews wrapped up operations.
Roads in the Hulen area were temporarily affected while crews worked, and residents were urged to avoid the scene so firefighters and investigators could operate safely. City officials and the Fort Worth Fire Department said additional details will be released once the building assessment and cause investigation are complete.
