The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is investigating the death of 31-year-old Jamal Thompson, who died after being taken to a hospital by Montgomery County police. Officers responded to a call about a person in crisis on Dec. 15, 2025, and transported Thompson under an emergency evaluation petition, police said.
Thompson suffered a medical emergency several hours after arriving at the hospital and later died. Details have not been released, as the Independent Investigations Division is leading the case and, under Maryland law, will disclose relevant information, including the names of the officers involved.
The Montgomery County Department of Police said it is fully cooperating with the IID and will not comment further until the investigation is complete. The IID is responsible for handling all public communications in the case.
