Thomas Edgar Hall, a 36-year-old involved in fentanyl distribution, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Harvey E. Schlesinger issued the sentence following Hall’s conviction on multiple counts of fentanyl distribution and possession of a firearm in connection with his illegal activities. The U.S. Department of Justice, led by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, announced the sentencing.
Undercover operations were key to Hall’s case. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, an undercover detective purchased narcotics from Hall on six occasions over a four-month period. During these meetings, Hall either carried a firearm or had one within reach. In the final transaction, Hall sold both fentanyl and a pistol to the undercover detective.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Hall’s residence, identified as the center of his drug distribution activities. Officers found a safe containing a shotgun, a rifle, three pistols—including one with an extended magazine—and various ammunition. These firearms matched those observed during the undercover drug transactions, connecting Hall to the offenses.
Additional fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were recovered during the search. The investigation, conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in collaboration with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, was part of a broader effort to address fentanyl-related crimes. Assistant United States Attorney Kelli Swaney prosecuted the case.
