Jefferson High School is under investigation after AI-generated and inappropriate images of students were shared without consent. According to an email to parents verified by the district and reported by TMJ4, a student captured images of peers and shared them in a folder with someone from another school district. The folder also contained AI-created images.

Parent James Strasburg told TMJ4 he is concerned about students being recorded without consent. The student handbook restricts cellphone use in classrooms, but the incident highlights the need for stricter measures.

WISN reported that Principal Nick Skretta confirmed the images may involve Jefferson High students. Superintendent Charles Urness said staff are cooperating under the assumption the students involved are from the school. The number and details of the AI images have not been released as law enforcement works to locate and remove the content.

Experts warn about risks of AI misuse in schools. WMTV cited Josiah Hanna, assistant professor of computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, who said realistic AI images can be deceptive and undermine trust.

The district advised families to discuss digital consent with their children and monitor their online activity, emphasizing education and prevention.
