Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced over $6.8 million in debt relief for disabled veterans who were misled by VA Claims Insider, LLC ("VACI"), a company that falsely presented itself as a free veterans’ benefits assistance organization. The lawsuit alleged that VACI charged veterans for services while misrepresenting their VA accreditation, fees, cancellation policies, and relationships with medical providers, according to the Office of the Texas Attorney General.

Veterans who refused to pay faced aggressive debt collection tactics from the company. Paxton’s action aims to hold VACI accountable for deceptive marketing and financial exploitation of veterans seeking help with their benefits, as reported by the Office of the Texas Attorney General.

"Disabled veterans are our nation’s heroes who put their lives on the line for our country, and no company will be allowed to pose as a legitimate VA service in order to scam and deceive them,” Paxton said. A court judgment permanently bars VACI from collecting debts from consumers misled by its services. The ruling cancels more than $6.8 million in debts accumulated over the past nine years under the guise of free services, providing relief to disabled veterans, as stated by the Office of the Texas Attorney General.
