A full road closure will take place on Weliweli Road in Kōloa from January 19 into mid-February, weather permitting, due to the construction of a drainage swale. The project was delayed from its original November start date, as announced in updates from November 7, 2025, according to the County of Kauai.
Residents are preparing for the disruption, which aims to improve the road’s drainage system. Cushnie Construction, in partnership with the Department of Public Works, will carry out the work during this period, as stated by the County of Kauai.
The County of Kauai reports that access to local homes and businesses will remain open during construction. Commuters should use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. Parking is not allowed in work zones, and flaggers will direct traffic. For questions, contact James at Cushnie Construction at 808-332-9000 or [email protected].
