Three individuals have been taken into custody in Kyle, Texas, following a routine traffic stop on Wednesday that led to the discovery of stolen firearms, vehicles, and items related to fraud. The arrests encompassed two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old, who, during the stop, confessed to actively engaging in a series of criminal activities the previous night. According to CBS Austin, these activities included the theft of firearms and multiple vehicles from Spicewood.
A subsequent search by the officers uncovered a substantial amount of illicit goods. As reported by News 4 San Antonio, the haul consisted of 14 stolen credit cards, three stolen checks, two driver's licenses connected with five victims, several alcohol bottles, and a distributable amount of THC vape pens found within the vehicle.
The Kyle Police Department identified the suspects as Nathaniel Montalvo, 18, of Kyle, and Eduardo De Jesus Ramirez and Jorge Sanchez, both 17, from Austin and Manor respectively. Montalvo is facing numerous charges, including Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Possession of a Controlled Substance, amongst others. Sanchez is similarly charged, with counts involving the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, while De Jesus Ramirez is also implicated in organized crime and drug-related offenses.
The investigation is continuing with the cooperation between the Kyle Police Department and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office to unravel the extent of the incidents in the Spicewood area. All suspects are currently being held and await further legal proceedings on the charges leveled against them. This incident casts a stark spotlight on the emerging intertwining challenges of vehicle theft, illegal firearms, and fraud that law enforcement is striving to meaningfully address.
