The City of La Vergne is extending an invitation to all members of the community to come together in a commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vast legacy on Jan. 19. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Ceremony is set to take place at La Vergne City Hall, and will begin at 10 a.m., as announced on the city's official webpage.
Among the featured speakers at the event are Richard Reed, a principal who has dedicated over two decades of his life to the educational and personal development of students in Rutherford County. Reed's experience spans across various leadership roles in education, which includes serving as teacher, coach, department chair, dean of students, and assistant principal. Reed has a history of focusing on building significant relationships with students and creating an environment supportive of their growth. Pastor Joshua Jamerson, who has founded the Crossland Church and has a deep background in ministry and worship leadership, will also be imparting his insights. Jamerson is celebrated not simply for leading religious congregations but for his impassioned community service and travels as a background singer for Gospel and Christian recording artists.
The city is inviting the public to attend its Martin Luther King Jr. Day Ceremony, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information, including how to sign up for notifications about upcoming events, is available on the city’s website.
