Maui County Federal Credit Union has flipped the sign to “open” again in Lahaina, bringing in-person banking back to West Maui after more than two years of stopgap service. The Lahaina branch reopened Monday at its longtime home at 270 Lahainaluna Road, offering standard in-branch services. The on-site ATM is still temporarily out of service, and the credit union’s temporary Fairway Shops office in Kāʻanapali, which had been filling the gap, closed earlier this month.
In a press release, Maui County Federal Credit Union noted that the Lahainaluna Road building was one of the few structures in the area left standing after the August 2023 wildfires. The Fairway Shops location at 2580 Kekaʻa Drive officially closed permanently on Jan. 9. “We reopen our Lahaina branch with deep humility and gratitude,” President and CEO Michele Kawahara said in the statement.
Services, Hours and ATM Status
According to Maui Now, the reopened Lahaina branch is offering all standard services, including new account openings and consumer loan consultations. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The outlet also reports that the branch ATM will remain temporarily out of service while staff finish bringing operations fully online.
What This Means for Lahaina
The return of a full-service credit union branch is one more visible marker of Lahaina’s slow but steady recovery, as businesses and essential services keep making their way back into town. County efforts to clear debris and restore daytime access to parts of Lahaina have allowed more commerce and community activity to resume, according to the County of Maui.
Members who need services outside branch hours can continue to use the credit union’s online and mobile banking platforms, and are encouraged to check the website for the latest on hours and services. For more information, visit Maui County Federal Credit Union.
