The Lakewood Police Department announced a significant drug bust on their social media platforms, following a traffic stop that snowballed into a felony drug arrest. The incident took place late Tuesday evening at the junction of Wadsworth and West 9th Avenue, where Lakewood agents pulled over a driver who ended up having a considerable drug haul, as stated by the Lakewood Police Department on their Facebook page.
According to the Lakewood Police Department, agents found a quarter pound of methamphetamine and hundreds of dollars in suspected drug money on the suspect. The apprehended driver is now facing felony charges as a result of the drugs and money found. Methamphetamine, a drug associated with various crimes and personal tragedies, was thereby prevented from entering the streets, the agency reported. They also emphasized the role of late-night proactive policing in combating such issues.
The bust is part of ongoing efforts by the Lakewood Police to crack down on the distribution of illicit substances within the community. "Meth destroys lives and fuels secondary crimes in our neighborhoods," the post read, as per the Lakewood Police Department, highlighting the destructive impact narcotics have on both individuals and society at large. The unnamed suspect's arrest is anticipated to hinder further dissemination of methamphetamine in the area.
