
Las Vegas police have made progress in a homicide case from late last month. On December 29, 2025, following an investigation, 42-year-old Marquita Wheeler and 18-year-old Tremaine Gentry were arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in downtown Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred on the 1800 block of Lewis Avenue near Bruce Street and prompted a response from the LVMPD Homicide Section. At the time, investigators released limited information about the victim or possible suspects. The suspects remained at large until their recent arrest.
Details of the case are still emerging, but the LVMPD has continued its investigation since the crime was first reported. Wheeler and Gentry, who were booked into the King County, California Jail, are awaiting extradition to Las Vegas to face charges of open murder. No information has been released regarding the extradition timeline or the suspects’ legal representation.
