Francisco Misajon, a 48-year-old teacher at Innovations International Charter School in Las Vegas, was arrested last Monday for sexual assault involving a student. Police said the student reported that Misajon touched them inappropriately while helping with a word search. The student’s mother contacted the police, and Misajon was taken into custody, according to News 3 LV.
Misajon, a former teacher, first denied wrongdoing but later said he accidentally touched a student, then accused the student of lying, and finally admitted he wanted to check the child’s private part to see if he was a "grown man" or "to see if his private part was grown," succumbing to his "urges," as reported by KTNV. The Las Vegas Police are investigating possible additional incidents. The school removed Misajon from the classroom and placed him on administrative leave. Parents said they only learned about the arrest days later through media, with one mother asking, "Are you serious? Are you freaking serious?" The school said student safety is its top priority and that psychological support is available for students and families, as per News 3 LV.
Misajon, who previously taught in the Philippines, is being held on $200,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 22. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department asks anyone with information about Misajon or similar incidents to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555, as mentioned by Hoodline.
