Residents and commuters in Lewisville can brace themselves for some notable changes on the city's roadways starting next week. According to a social media post from Lewisville City Hall, Phase 2 of the Jones Street & North Kealy Avenue Widening Project is set to kick off on Monday, January 12. This project is a collaborative effort between the city and the U.S. Department of Transportation Central Federal Lands, with the contract awarded to Construction Solutions Group, LLC.
The new phase follows the completion of Phase 1, with the upcoming work specifically targeting the improvement of East Jones Street, running from North Cowan Avenue to North Kealy Avenue, and a stretch of North Kealy Avenue itself, beginning at Jones Street and extending 650 feet south. With the project's second phase beginning, the City Hall post noted, traffic on Jones Street will move only eastbound, while Kealy Avenue will see southbound traffic exclusively.
A detailed traffic control plan, which outlines detours for westbound Jones Street and northbound Kealy Avenue, can be found on the City of Lewisville's official Facebook page. The post, available here, urges drivers to exercise caution when navigating the work zone and warns of potential lane closures and minor delays caused by the construction work.
