The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is renewing their call to the public, seeking assistance in the unsolved 2008 homicide of Vincent Bejar. In the city of Bellflower, Bejar was gunned down on September 1 at about 1:10 PM, and despite the passage of years, his killer(s) remain uncaught. A $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction stands, as per an announcement from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, reported by the Sheriff's Department's Facebook page.
According to KTLA's coverage, Bejar was walking on the sidewalk when a white four-door sedan pulled up. The front passenger exited, brandishing a handgun, and opened fire after Bejar attempted to flee the scene. The attack occurred in broad daylight on the 15100 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, Bejar. A 24-year-old father of a two-year-old would later die at Long Beach Memorial Hospital from the torso gunshot wounds to the torso he sustained.
The grim task of clean-up fell to the family, not long after the tragedy. "We cleaned off blood in the driveway where he fell," Bejar's mother, Cynthia Bejar, recounted in a KTLA interview. This detail paints a stark and somber reality of the aftermath that families of violent crimes often face. From this personal loss, the Bejars have continued to seek justice, which remains elusive despite the authorities' ongoing investigation and repeated public appeals for information.
Detectives are convinced that there were witnesses to the shooting, and hold onto the hope that new information may still surface. The persistent efforts received a slight push with the reinstatement of the reward, which had expired earlier this month on January 4, 2026.
