Firefighters battled a blaze at a two-story, single-family home in Lake Balboa yesterday afternoon, as heavy smoke poured from a second-floor room. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident, referred to as INC#1252, occurred at 6956 N Wish Av. The smoke was reported to show up at around 4:30 PM. LAFD Alert detailed that initial reports indicated a fire confined to one room on the home's second floor, with firefighters adopting an offensive strategy to manage the blaze.
The situation was brought under control in less than twenty minutes, with the Los Angeles Fire Department announcing a 'knockdown' of the fire at 4:49 PM. A team of 34 firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, having isolated it to the aforementioned upstairs room. During the incident, an approximately 30-year-old male was transported from the scene in unknown condition. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with LAFD Arson called in to assist, as reported in a subsequent LAFD Knockdown Alert.
No further injuries were reported, and no other rooms in the house were affected by the fire. The prompt and effective response of the firefighters kept the damage to the structure to a minimum. The LAFD has not yet provided an estimate of the damages incurred by the fire.
