Maison Verbena, a local purveyor of baked goods and luxe home products, is bidding adieu to its Ferry Building location and embracing a new chapter in Hayes Valley. In statements made on their website and social media, founders Derek Jin and Ricardo Sison have hinted at a unique flagship San Francisco boutique, which they claim will be the first of its kind in the United States. The address of the future shop is 437 Hayes St., which will take over the space previously occupied by Zero& Amour Vert.
According to the San Francisco Business Times, this new venture aims to open its doors in phases starting this spring, although the historic nature of its 1907 building may influence the speed of this process. While Maison Verbena is prepping for its Hayes Valley debut, customers can still find their products at the Ferry Building's Village Market, where they began their journey. On January 10, Lucania from the A16 team is set to start construction in the suite Maison Verbena is vacating, expanding their culinary footprint at the market.
Over in the Village Market, those fond of Maison Verbena's offerings will not have to wander far. As revealed in a recent Instagram post, the business will set up shop temporarily just two doors down from their current Ferry Building spot. Maison Verbena started in this very location and will return there until a permanent solution is found within the Ferry Building. In addition to sharing this move, the founders expressed their excitement about the impending Hayes Valley store, highlighting its aspirational blend of various elements designed to create an immersive atmosphere.
The new boutique, as the founders of Maison Verbena described it, will weave together scent, food, wine, beer, craft, indulgence, and the poetry of daily rituals as part of its unique offering, aligning with their established aesthetic of elevated everyday experiences. The store plans to wow shoppers with a curated selection of retail and bakery items, including scented candles, soaps, and luxury fashion books. Additionally, Maison Verbena is branching out internationally, with plans to establish an Atelier Bakery in Seoul, South Korea, by summer 2027.
Despite this planned growth, Ricardo Sison shared with the San Francisco Business Times that there's still a possibility for Maison Verbena to return to the Ferry Building in the future. However, for now, Hudson Pacific Properties, the building's owner, seems to be eyeing tenants that can offer more formal sit-down dining experiences. Meanwhile, Maison Verbena fans can look forward to unique retail experiences and culinary delights in their upcoming Hayes Valley location.
