The Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer Z. Alikhan have provided preliminary details. They report that the driver of a red Honda Civic was southbound at a high rate of speed, the vehicle failed to adhere to the traffic lane, eventually veering off the road and colliding with a tree. The force of the impact was such that the Houston Fire Department paramedics, who arrived on the scene, could do little but pronounce the individual deceased.
