
A man was arrested after driving his car through the front entrance of BargainMax in Eastridge Mall following a confrontation over a gold-plated "Sears" sign. According to the Gastonia Police Department's Facebook page, no one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. BargainMax confirmed the store will remain closed for the rest of the day and possibly into tomorrow while staff manage the damage.
Police reported that the man initially attempted to take the sign and returned shortly afterward, making threats before ramming the store entrance. The suspect’s identity has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
