A Northwest Side dispute turned violent yesterday when a man was shot during an altercation. The confrontation, which occurred around noon on the 200 block of West Quill Drive, saw a 53-year-old man hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an argument with a 33-year-old man escalated into a shooting, as reported by KSAT.
Initial police findings suggest the men engaged in a verbal spat that soon turned physical. One of the men, described as 'someone losing the fight,' grabbed a gun in the home at some point and shot the other man twice, KSAT states. The victim, wounded in his leg and sustaining a head injury, was transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Authorities are actively searching for the gunman, who fled the scene, a detail echoed by Fox San Antonio. The suspect remains at-large after last being seen escaping on foot. Moreover, an attempt by a third individual to join the fracas wielding a tire iron has been noted, although they too evaded police upon their arrival. The precise nature of the argument and the relationship, if any, between the men involved remain unclear. However, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is delving into the circumstances of the confrontation, attempting to piece together what led up to the shooting.
