
The streets of Mankato have seen a flurry of traffic enforcement activity last month, as detailed by the Mankato Police and Fire in a social media post published on January 13th. The report, aimed at offering a snapshot of December 2025's road safety operations, indicated a steady hand of law enforcement in efforts to curb vehicular transgressions.
With a total of 360 traffic stops executed throughout December, local authorities have been vigilant in monitoring the roads for infractions, according to a post on Mankato Police and Fire's Facebook page. Citations issued during the month amounted to 129, with speed-related violations constituting a substantial portion of these penalties; 21 citations found drivers pushing against the limits of velocity set to safeguard the community.
Extreme instances of this disregard for speed limits were recorded, with speeds of 60 mph in a 30 mph zone, 54 mph in a 30 mph zone, and 55 mph in a 35 mph zone being the highest speeds observed by the Mankato law enforcers. Such figures starkly contrast the legally established limits, highlighting a dangerous bent among some motorists towards excessive speed. "Thank you for doing your part — slow down, buckle up, and plan ahead if you're going to drink," the department's post earnestly advised the public.
