The Marietta History Center is marking its 30th anniversary with an exhibition highlighting its history. According to the official announcement, the center, located in the Kennesaw House, is presenting “Marietta History Center at 30,” which documents its development since its founding in 1996.
The exhibition is organized into four chronological chapters that outline the museum’s development as a key destination for historical narratives in Marietta and Cobb County. It also provides visitors with insights into the role of volunteers and the process of curating the permanent collection. Located in the Kennesaw House, which has been standing since the 1840s, the venue provides a historical context that complements the anniversary celebration.
Originally a cotton warehouse and later the Fletcher House hotel, the Kennesaw House has stood through events such as the Civil War and the Great Fire in Marietta. Thirty years ago, the Marietta History Center was established in the building, preserving its history alongside the museum’s collection.
The anniversary event includes an exhibition that highlights the Marietta History Center’s work in preserving and sharing local history. The museum’s mission is to connect people with Marietta’s history through its collections and programs. Visitors are invited to attend the event and explore the museum’s exhibits.
The exhibition opens on January 31, and will run through late Fall 2026 at the Marietta History Center, located at 1 Depot Street, Marietta, GA 30060. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors over 60. Admission is free for members, children under 5, and active military personnel and veterans. Group tours for 10 or more are available at $10 per person. For more information or visual materials, contact [email protected], call 770-794-5710, or visit www.MariettaHistory.org.
