Marietta Water is set to tackle aging infrastructure within the St. Marys–St. Anne's area starts next week. The essential water line replacement project promises to enhance water service delivery and system reliability for residents, as reported by the City of Marietta. Approximately 10,000 feet of outdated 6-inch and 8-inch water mains are scheduled to be replaced.
Commencing on Monday, January 12, the project will stretch through key community lifelines, including Chowning Place, N St. Marys Lane, St. Johns Court, St. Teresa Terrace, and St. Anne's Road. Despite the construction, Marietta Water intends to continuously provide water to its customers, with planned outages being communicated well ahead of time via door hangers. Work is set to be wrapped up by the end of June 2026, barring unforeseen delays.
Residents should brace for minor disruptions as construction is likely to temporarily reconfigure typical suburban landscapes. "Most of the work will occur within the public right of way, primarily in the shoulder of the roadway outside of the pavement," according to Marietta. Any landscaping affected by the construction activity is to be duly restored to its original state, with pavements being tended to once the job is concluded.
Travel may become a tad more cumbersome around the neighborhoods with lane closures expected in active work zones. However, an effort will be made to maintain access to driveways and mailboxes throughout the duration of the undertaking. K.M. Davis Contracting is on board to execute the improvements. The company comes into the fold with a remit to quickly revitalize the water main system while minimizing impact on the day-to-day lives of the community members. Residents hungry for more information on the project specifics can refer to the City of Marietta.
