Mecklenburg County has announced a delayed start for its offices and services today due to adverse weather conditions. According to the Mecklenburg County website, offices will open at 12 p.m. instead of their regular hours, aiming to maintain employee safety while still ensuring that essential services remain accessible to the community.
The delay affects several departments, including DSS Child, Family, and Adult Services. Despite the closure, help lines remain open 24/7. Reports of elder or disabled abuse can be made at 704-336-CARE (2273), and child abuse, neglect, or human trafficking concerns at 980-31-HELPS (43577).
Centers like the Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Center and the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center will also observe the adjusted schedule. Other affected services include the Department of Community Support Services and Public Health operations. The county assures residents that for environmental concerns, Enhanced and Full-Service Recycling Centers will kick things off a bit earlier, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Residents needing assistance from the Elections Office, Tax Collector and Assessor’s Offices, or the Register of Deeds will need to adjust for the delay. The county emphasizes balancing public service with the safety of staff and residents during the weather.
