A fuel theft operation in Miami-Dade was stopped with the arrest of two individuals, Evis Luis La Rosa, 34, and Reidys Martinez-Torriente, 23, on multiple charges including grand theft and organized fraud. Authorities said the scheme involved vehicles with hidden tanks and manipulating gas pumps to steal diesel, with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office monitoring the repeated incidents, NBC Miami reported.

The thefts led to the loss of about 962 gallons of diesel, valued at over $3,100, at Miami-Dade 7-Eleven locations on consecutive days. On Sunday, Martinez-Torriente was seen filling a large container with diesel, followed later by Luis La Rosa in a separate vehicle, both avoiding payment, NBC Miami reported. Separately, a two-vehicle collision occurred in the Redlands area involving a mail van and a pickup truck, resulting in injuries. A postal vehicle ended up between trees, and a civilian was ejected and taken to Jackson South Medical Center, with details shared on a Facebook post.

The Sheriff’s Office and fire rescue teams responded to the crash, which involved a black Ford F-150 with significant front-end damage and deployed airbags. It remains unclear whether the injured civilian was a postal worker or another individual involved in the collision.

Authorities investigating both the fuel theft and the crash are asking anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. Law enforcement continues to gather details on these separate incidents, according to local news reports and social media updates.
