Chilling new bodycam video footage has emerged from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, showcasing a deputy's encounter with an alleged shoplifter that turned deadly. The footage, released for public viewing, captures the disturbing November 6, 2025, confrontation outside a Walmart store located in Southwest Miami-Dade.
The sequence of events, detailed in the video, began when loss prevention staff alerted a deputy to the actions of 36-year-old Kennedy Graham, who was suspected of shoplifting. When approached by the deputy, Graham ran towards the exit, which sparked a physical altercation, according to a WSVN report. The struggle was short-lived, however, Graham managed to break free from the officer and fled, apparently with a gun in his hand which was highlighted in the video.
The deputy, a 37-year-old and five-year veteran of the sheriff's office, can be heard in the footage commanding "Don't f---ing resist, don't f---ing resist," as reported by NBC6. In response to Graham's continued attempt to escape, the deputy discharged his firearm three times. Graham was subsequently hit and collapsed outside the establishment.
Despite the immediate medical aid administered by additional deputies and paramedics, Graham succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The purported firearm he was carrying, a loaded gun, was recovered at the scene. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz issued a statement expressing her commitment to transparency and maintaining public trust, saying, “Regardless of the outcome, my commitment is clear: to be transparent with our community, to hold ourselves to the highest standards, and to continue working every day to earn and maintain your trust,” as obtained by WSVN.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent investigation into the incident, which is a standard procedure following deputy-involved shootings. Meanwhile, Graham's family holds firm in their belief that his death was preventable.
