Miami is poised to be a hotbed of electronic music in early 2026, with two festivals showcasing the genre's range and depth. The local scene gets a boost with the return of Synthesis Microfest II, dedicated to experimental electronic sounds, while Ultra Music Festival gears up for its 2026 edition, promising to light up Bayfront Park with a lineup peppered with global heavyweights.

According to the Phoenix New Times, the Synthesis Microfest II event will celebrate the avant-garde side of electronic music on January 23 and 24 at Thee 23 Skidoo in Miami, AZ. Tres Ikner, of Low Key Organic and part of Synthesis’s production team, expressed the inaugural event's success spurred the second iteration. “The first Synthesis Microfest proved that there is a vibrant and enthusiastic audience for experimental and original electronic music in the region,” Ikner told Phoenix New Times. The festival welcomes returning acts alongside newcomers, among them Phoenix's synth maestro Jason Mysteria, creating a melting pot of styles like indietronica, trip-hop, synth-wave, and desert psych.

On the flip side, Ultra Music Festival's Phase 2 lineup is turning heads with over 70 additional acts added to the already hefty roster. The internationally renowned festival, happening from March 27 to 29, features first-ever performances and exclusive back-to-back sets, one being between techno titans Amelie Lens and Sara Landry. The event is expected to draw massive crowds and push the boundaries of electronic music mainstream appeal. EDMHouseNetwork reported that Ultra's Phase 2 cements its reputation for delivering diverse and top-tier musical experiences.

While Synthesis Microfest II echoes a more curated, niche vibe focused on community engagement, attendees will have an intimate experience with a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Ikner hopes the festival not just showcases cutting-edge music but also strengthens the bond with Miami's tight-knit community. "The more people who come to Miami and fall in love like we did, the better. It’s a really special place,” Ikner remarked to Phoenix New Times.

Ultra Music Festival, in contrast, wedges itself at the head of the electronic music vanguard with colossal acts and debut performances, including a special back-to-back set from Alesso and Martin Garrix, which follows their hit single “Inside Our Hearts.”
