Over the course of the campaign, which kicked off on November 28, topics including credit card safety, wise charitable giving, being smart with online shopping, and recognizing phishing scams were among those covered, each providing Michiganders with a slice of wisdom to guard themselves against ever-evolving cons. "These consumer alerts are available year round to help you avoid scams and protect your personal information, and I want to thank my talented team for their creativity and dedication to keeping residents informed," Nessel said, acknowledging her staff's efforts to foster a more aware and protected community, per the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
The state's top legal adviser hasn't left residents without a paddle post-holiday season either; a new consumer protection social media account, Michigan Consumer Protection (@MIConsumerWatch), has been launched, aiming to be a year-round sentinel against fraud. The account, available on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, will disseminate scam alerts, tips, and updates from the Department of the Attorney General.
