Milwaukee residents awoke to a dusting of snow and gusty winds this morning, as the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan reported "WIND AND SNOW WILL SEVERELY LIMIT VISIBILITY THIS MORNING," creating hazardous driving conditions for commuters; visibility was down to half a mile in spots, warning travelers to slow down and allow extra stopping distance, according to a National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 AM this morning. The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan warns that flash freezing and recent snowfall will create icy conditions for the morning commute across east central, south central, and southeast Wisconsin. Drivers should expect slick roads, especially on bridges and overpasses.
The high for today should hover around 26°F with mostly cloudy conditions and blustery north winds staying around 20 mph, gusting as high as 35 mph, posing the risk of less than a half inch of additional snow accumulation.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan forecasts that the cold snap will persist, with chances for light snow extending into early next week. Thursday and Friday are expected to have highs near 25°F and 36°F, while Saturday’s high dips to around 20°F. Extended snow chances and brisk winds mean Milwaukee residents should keep winter gear ready and prepare for impacts on commutes and daily routines.
