Recent updates on the situation involving Sydney Marquez, a 24-year-old El Paso woman who went missing in Houston on December 11th, have surfaced, revealing a complex situation. Marquez was found in a Houston suburb early Friday morning, per statements disseminated on social media by her sister. While initial reports by KTSM 9 News indicated that Marquez had been found safe, a subsequent statement provided by her sister, Kayla Marquez, to KVIA expressed serious concerns regarding her safety and mental health status.
"She is not with family," Kayla Marquez posted to social media, as reported by KVIA. "She is not yet safe. She has not had proper medical evaluation as a police simply let her walk back out to the streets of Houston." The circumstances surrounding Marquez's discovery and her subsequent release by local police have worried her family, who believe that Marquez, with a documented history of mental health issues, was released prematurely without a thorough medical psychiatric evaluation.
In a message exchange publicized on social media by Clari, Marquez's other sister, a tip from a Facebook user led to her being located, as detailed by KTSM 9 News. The tipster prompted Clari to contact the Jersey Village Police Department, advising her that Marquez was spotted wearing a distinctive light blue sweater and sweatpants and bearing a clover tattoo on her left wrist.
