
Monroe Police Department took to social media to report an incident that transpired in the 700 block of Sinclair Drive on New Year's Day. According to their Facebook post, officers responded to a disturbance at around 1:10 p.m., resulting in the detention of two juveniles and the recovery of a concealed handgun.
Upon their arrival, MPD officers encountered a masked young individual who fled upon making eye contact with law enforcement. The chase was short-lived, ending with an officer apprehending the suspect. The investigation revealed that the subject in question was a juvenile and he had concealed a firearm with an extended magazine. As this scene unfolded, a relative of the detained youth confronted the officers in a confrontational manner, leading to another detention after a struggle.
Highlighting the nature and challenges of juvenile delinquency in the area, the MPD addressed the concern of residents. "The Monroe Police Department recognizes and shares the concerns raised by residents in this neighborhood regarding ongoing issues involving juvenile delinquency and disruptive behavior," stated the post.
In response to the ongoing issues, Monroe Police have pledged to continue devoting enforcement efforts and resources to curb criminal activities involving younger offenders. "The department takes these concerns seriously and will continue to dedicate enforcement efforts and investigative resources to address criminal activity involving juveniles," the department declared on Facebook.
