
The North Carolina Department of Labor has bolstered its leadership team this week, with Commissioner Luke Farley appointing Tyler Younts as the new Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Jackson Lohrer stepping into the role of Safety Awards Coordinator, as per a recent announcement on the department's website.
Tyler Younts is making the switch from a private law practice in Winston-Salem and comes equipped with a hefty résumé that includes a stint as a Deputy Commissioner at the North Carolina Industrial Commission where he presided over various claims and sat on Full Commission panels hearing appeals, he has also had his hands in workers' compensation, administrative law, and appellate practice. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate, who went on to earn his law degree from Campbell University, has previously offered his legal expertise to a nonprofit organization and has delved into the nuances of appellate litigation before his emergence onto the state's Industrial Commission.
In contrast, Jackson Lohrer, a University of North Carolina at Charlotte alumnus, is transitioning from the State Auditor's Office where he was actively involved with constituent concerns and large-scale outreach initiatives, Lohrer's new role will place him at the helm of the department's Safety Awards Program, which will see him recognizing North Carolina employers who stand out in their commitment to workplace safety practices.
"Tyler and Jackson bring exceptional talent and dedication to their roles," Commissioner Farley was quoted in the department's press release, highlighting the duo's readiness to help achieve the department's vision of ensuring that North Carolina's workplaces are not only safe but also fair, and healthy to foster a climate of prosperity.
