
A tragic crash in Salem Township claimed the life of a North Huntingdon man yesterday. According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, 47-year-old Scott W. Sellitto was driving a GMC Acadia SUV along Route 22 when he fatally collided with a parked tractor-trailer. This incident occurred in the morning hours, near the intersection of Route 22 and Hannastorm Road, as reported by TribLIVE.
The accident seemed to unfold rapidly, with emergency responders being summoned to the scene at around 10:49 a.m., conveyed by Westmoreland County emergency dispatchers. In what was a tragic unfolding of events, firmly seat-belted was not Scott W. Sellitto when the SUV he was operating veered off the road, according to WPXI.
The vehicle, having departed from the road, made impact with a stationary tractor-trailer that was situated in a lot adjacent to the Liberty Transportation Inc. facility. The front of Sellitto's SUV was discovered trapped underneath the detached portion of the tractor-trailer, in what became the final resting place for the vehicle and its sole occupant.
At the scene, decisive in his conclusion, Westmoreland County Coroner John A. Ackerman pronounced Sellitto deceased. Sellitto succumbed to blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident in a report that was released later. Efforts are underway by the Pennsylvania State Police to untangle the circumstances of this fatal mishap, aiming to present a clearer picture of what may have led to such a devastating outcome.
