An Ogden police officer, while on patrol early Thursday morning, acted swiftly to evacuate residents from a burning home. The officer, who was near the area of 2200 Monroe Boulevard, reported the alarming sight of smoke billowing from the home's roof around 3:49 a.m., FOX 13 reported.
Quickly after reporting the fire, acting without having been identified by officials, the officer began the process of evacuating the dwelling. The fire department arrived shortly after to find the home cleared of its residents. Firefighters managed to fully extinguish the fire within an hour, which they discovered smoldering in the attic space and contained to that area, as reported by ABC4 News.
No injuries were reported among the nine individuals displaced by the blaze. According to the Ogden Fire Department, the peaceful residents found their abode suddenly uninhabitable and planned to seek shelter with family and friends until they could return, as suggested by details from KUTV.
While the estimated damage was pegged at approximately $70,000, the cause of the fire remains a specter not yet unveiled, with ongoing investigations by the authorities. The home sustained moderate fire and smoke damage, particularly affecting the attic, and consequently, the house was temporarily unfit for dwelling, as ABC4 News narrated.
In the wake of the emergency, certain sections of Monroe Boulevard were briefly closed by Ogden police officers to facilitate firefighting operations. The restrictions imposed on the boulevard have since been lifted, allowing the neighborhood pulse to resume its beat in the aftermath of the sudden disruption.
