As the confetti settled from the New Year's Eve celebrations, lottery enthusiasts across Ohio were checking if the Powerball numbers lined up in their favor. Despite no one claiming the $45 million jackpot during the drawing on Dec. 31, Ohio has its share of smaller prize winners. According to WKYC, one Ohio resident is now $50,000 richer, with another 32 lucky players pocketing $100 each. An additional 776 and 7,501 players won $7 and $4, respectively, spreading a small dose of holiday cheer across the state.
The winning numbers for the last Powerball of 2025, which have landed a few Ohioans a not-so-shabby start to the new year, were 11, 18, 21, 24, 38, and the Powerball 26, with a 10x Power Play option boosting some prizes. While the big prize remained elusive, the Powerball jackpot is now on the rise, reaching an estimated $64 million with a cash value of $29.5 million for the upcoming draw, as reported by USA Today. The next opportunity for bettors is on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 10:59 p.m.
Powerball, available in 45 states and several territories, isn't the only game that has produced Ohio winners. The lure of lottery fortunes has been strong with significant wins across various lottery games throughout the Buckeye State in 2025. This includes a $1 million Cashword winner, a $11.4 million Classic Lotto jackpot, and multiple "Lucky For Life" winners guaranteeing $25,000 a year for life. Clearly, the randomness of luck has shown a favorable pattern towards Ohio of late, implying that the next big jackpot winner could just as easily be from the heartland, as WKYC has detailed several success stories.
