The Olympia Fire Department is launching its 2026 all in-house Olympia Fire Academy, marking a return to training recruits entirely within the OFD family. In celebrating the effort behind the program, the department shared, "We are so proud of our Fire Training Family and all the work they put in leading up to this years 2026 all Olympia Fire Academy," emphasizing that "While we have had great experiences running Academy with blended fire organizations there is something special about having family bring up family in the OFD way this round," as reported by the Olympia Fire Department.
Photos show recruits training under seasoned Olympia Fire Department personnel, reflecting the department’s confidence in their resilience and growth. Offering encouragement, the Olympia Fire Department stated, “We are rooting for your success as you face the fire that is academy. We cannot wait to celebrate the versions of you that emerge on the other side,” and concluded with the message, “You got this recruits!!”
According to the Olympia Fire Department on its Facebook page, a new group of recruits is currently undergoing in-house fire academy training, with posted footage showing them participating in physical and skills-based exercises. The recruits, known as the “Regulators,” are being prepared for future firefighting duties in the Olympia area as they work toward joining the department.
