Tragedy struck a suburban community in Oswego this week, as police were called to a grisly scene following a report from a concerned husband. According to NBC Chicago, the man saw what he believed to be his wife's ex-husband chasing her into their garage via their home surveillance system. The incident occurred around 1:10 p.m. on the 400 block of Valentine Way. Officers who arrived at the scene discovered a deceased woman inside the house, launched an immediate search for the suspect, and appealed to the public for assistance.
The woman's identity has not been released, and the authorities are waiting for an autopsy to be conducted to determine the cause and manner of her death. A witness reportedly saw a man fleeing the residence, prompting the local police, with assistance from the Aurora Police Department, to deploy canine teams and drone surveillance in pursuit. The Oswego Police Department apprehended a suspect, believed to be the victim's ex-husband, after a traffic stop of a vehicle matching the description shared by dispatchers.
Further details surrounding the case remain scarce as the Oswego police, who dubbed the incident an "isolated incident," are urging the public for their help in the ongoing investigation. FOX 32 Chicago reports that the police are asking residents of nearby neighborhoods such as Prescott Mill, Hudson Pointe, and Echelon Oswego to scour their surveillance footage for any signs of the suspect or his vehicle prior to 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Residents have also been advised to inspect trash cans and yards for any unusual items that could be pertinent to the case. "Anyone who finds something suspicious is asked not to touch it and to call 911," authorities emphasized. Although an individual is in custody, the police, in partnership with the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, continue to work toward establishing possible charges and piecing together the timeline of events that resulted in such a tragic outcome.
