
An Oxnard man with a history of child sexual abuse material offenses, Gary Steven Daniel II, has once again pleaded guilty to related charges; the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced the plea concerning two cases involving the possession of the illicit material, as reported by KTLA and confirmed by recently published official documents.
Daniel, having once been convicted in Missouri in 2015 and again in Ventura County in 2019 was apprehended after the DA's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Unit received CyberTip reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicating his continued activities, upon which investigators tracked the defendant's use of cloud storage and a burner phone to horde the unspeakable content he was once again storing child sexual abuse material, as substantiated by the thorough investigations leading to his December 30, 2025 arrest, "Joey Buttitta, Communications Manager/PIO from the DA's office, provided details regarding the extensive work of law enforcement in the case announcement.
The 47-year-old offender now faces up to 8 years and 8 months in prison following his guilty plea to three felony counts of possession or control of child sexual abuse material and various special allegations related to the gravity and nature of his offenses as Senior Deputy District Attorney Howard Wise refers to the task force involved as tireless in pursuing sexual exploiters of children, stating, "They are exposed to the worst type of images every day, but they nevertheless show up ready to make sure justice is done," KTLA quotes him.
Bail has been set at $500,000 for Daniel, who remains in custody pending his sentencing on February 17, his history of offenses and means to elude law enforcement, before his most recent attempt which was foiled by collaboration between the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation, the Oxnard Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation he continues drawing the ire of the justice system as an individual who has failed to abide by the norms of a society that protects its most vulnerable members.
