The San Diego Padres have opened the Diamond Room, a 50-seat, 1970s-inspired cocktail lounge tucked into the Simon Levi Building beside Gallagher Square at Petco Park. The intimate spot leans into retro-chic design, with velvet drapes, black leather booths, mirrored walls, turntables and a disco ball, and it serves classics-focused cocktails alongside a short menu of small plates.

According to Delaware North, the Diamond Room debuted to the public on January 16 after a soft opening on January 14 and was developed by Patina Group in partnership with the Padres' Finest Collective. The lounge seats roughly 50 guests and will initially operate in the evenings, with extended weekend hours.

Retro Cocktails With A Ballpark Twist

Gaslamp Ball reports that the cocktail program leans on classics with a San Diego angle, including a clarified Diamond Margarita, Baxter's Old Fashioned and a nitro-finished Fluffy Garibaldi, along with two nonalcoholic options, beer and wine. Local TV station CBS8 got an early look inside and highlighted the disco ball and vinyl displays that drive home the late-1970s vibe.

From City Tacos To Cocktail Lounge

The Diamond Room takes over the former City Tacos space on the edge of Gallagher Square, a switch that followed a Padres lease buyout last year and drew criticism from some fans, according to SanDiegoVille. Industry coverage has framed the opening as part of a broader push to turn the Ballpark District into a year-round hospitality hub rather than a strip that only comes alive on game days, as noted by Sports Business Journal.

Team Execs Pitch It As A Neighborhood Perk

“Diamond Room is about more than opening a restaurant, it’s about bringing new life to Petco Park and creating a space that feels special every day,” John Kolaski, president of Patina Group, said in the Delaware North announcement. Padres CEO Erik Greupner described the concept as a premium amenity that complements the energy of both the ballpark and the surrounding neighborhood.

Hours, Classes And Private Events

The lounge's initial schedule is evening-focused, with early reports listing 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Thursday, and service until midnight on Friday and Saturday. It will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with expanded hours expected during the baseball season and on special event days, per Gaslamp Ball. The space will host Patina's “Shaken & Stirred” mixology classes, be available for private rentals and, according to local outlets, will be managed by San Diego native Jason Hatton as general manager.

For now, the Diamond Room joins a growing slate of team-aligned hospitality projects that are reshaping the area around Petco Park into a more consistent nightlife and event district, a transformation industry outlets have been tracking as the Padres expand their Finest Collective operations.
