The Park City Council is prepping to jumpstart 2026 with a schedule packed with critical issues that will influence the city's trajectory. The first regular meeting of the year is set for Thursday, January 8, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, beginning at 3:30 p.m. On the docket for discussion is the future of S.R. 248, with the Level 2 Screening Report's findings on the table, as reported by Park City.
Environmentally minded residents will be keen to follow the review of the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area Adaptive Management and Stewardship Plan. End-of-season metrics for trails, parking, and transit will be assessed to ensure that one of the city's natural jewels remains carefully tended and sustainable. With Park City's arts scene possibly poised to experience a renaissance, the City Council will look to possibly adopt the proposed Arts and Culture Master Plan set forth by the Arts Council of Park City and Summit County. This plan outlines a strategic and long-term vision for bolstering the region’s artistic and cultural assets.
City Council's plate is fuller still, with a special meeting on Friday, January 9, to interview candidates vying for a vacant Council seat. A diverse applicant pool, including Doyle Damron, John Frontero, Danny Glasser, George Goodman, Molly Miller, Matt Nagie, Jeffrey Pierce, Jack Rubin, Laura Suesser, and Jennifer Sutton, will look to impress Council members with their vision and qualifications ahead of a potential appointment during the regular meeting on January 15.
Recent local celebrations witnessed the swearing-in of Ryan Dickey as mayor of the city's 47th, and Tana Toly and Diego Zegarra as council members, amidst the welcoming backdrop of fresh snowfall. Now, city officials have turned to the community to actively engage in the future of Park City, as seen through the request for input on an EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant to remediate the Bonanza Park site. A public meeting to collect comments is slated for January 12, with the draft application going public a week later, from January 19, and staying open for feedback until January 25.
