This morning, commuters on the Parkway East experienced significant delays following a serious accident that closed the eastbound lanes near the Greenfield Bridge. As WTAE reported, the collision, which took place sometime before 8:30 a.m., prompted officials to shut down I-376 eastbound between the Bates Street on-ramp at the Oakland interchange and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. Emergency response teams were quick to the scene, and an Allegheny County 911 dispatcher confirmed to WPXI that one person was taken to the hospital; however, details surrounding the individual's condition have not been disclosed.
Fortunately, the obstruction was not prolonged. At 9:30 AM, PennDOT officials declared the lanes reopened, and the flow of traffic on the Parkway East resumed its normal pace.
