The initial notice, published at 8:01 PM, indicated that a pedestrian had been struck and was transported for medical treatment. It wasn't until later, at 8:57 PM, did the department disclosed that the victim was an adult male. The man's injuries were described as life-threatening, and while he was near a senior living facility, it was noted that he was not a resident there.
Residents and travelers through the area were met with inconveniences as the major thoroughfare remained shut down for investigation. Police asked for the public's patience in a message, estimating that the road would be closed for at least another hour from the time of the second update.
Come 10:22 PM, the Lewisville Police Department's final update indicated, "Investigation complete. The roadway is open again." This news came as a relief to many, surely, as regular traffic flow was restored and the accident scene cleared. The police thanked the community for their patience as they wrapped up at the scene.
