The Pennsylvania State Police have assumed control of an investigation involving a man seen using racial slurs in a video at a Rostraver Township Walmart. This incident, which captured the man verbally assaulting a woman, quickly spread online and has garnered thousands of views since being posted on Facebook. With the case's heightened visibility, the responsibility for the investigation has been shifted from the local Rostraver Township Police Department to the state's Criminal Investigation Unit, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
At the center of this controversy sits Augusta "Queenie" Goll, a Liberian immigrant who owns a grocery store in Charleroi. According to Goll, the man, who was a stranger to her, approached while she was shopping and began to inquire about her financial capability to purchase a home. Before she could fully reply, Goll recounts the man aggressively dishing out racial slurs, including the N-word. Despite these challenging interactions, in an interview with CBS News Pittsburgh, Goll expressed her willingness to move on, stating that the man had later left an apology note at her business, acknowledging his need for help.
As part of the investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police have conducted multiple interviews and collected various pieces of information and evidence. Working collaboratively with the FBI and the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office, they are actively seeking additional leads.
