Spanaway Loop Rd S witnessed another instance of the notorious center turn lane violation during this week's early morning commute. In a routine enforcement of traffic laws, Deputy Cappetto pulled over a driver for exceeding the legally permitted distance within the center turn lane, as reported by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Blog.
The cited law, RCW 46.61.290, clearly restricts vehicles from using the center lane for overtaking or passing and prohibits traveling in this lane for more than three hundred feet. The Sheriff's Department Blog reminds drivers that straying from this law could cost them $150.00.
