Prescott's Whiskey Row welcomed the new year with its unique western flair as the 15th annual Boot Drop event attracted thousands of attendees on New Year's Eve. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the celebration centered around a 6-foot-tall illuminated cowboy boot that descended from the flagpole of the historic Palace Restaurant, with drops occurring at both 10 p.m. and midnight to accommodate various bedtime preferences and to align with the iconic Times Square Ball drop.
The festivities commenced at 7 p.m. on December 31, as reported by Prescott eNews, with live music from The Instant Classics kick-starting the evening around 7:30 p.m. Entertainment extended beyond the tunes, with carnival games, rides, and a variety of food truck vendors to enrich the experience. While the bars and restaurants welcomed guests, free parking was offered downtown—a commodity that became scarce as the night progressed, hinting at attendees to arrive early.
Matt Brassard of M&M Entertainment & Productions highlighted the event's uniqueness, telling FOX 10 Phoenix, "This is the only boot drop worldwide, as far as we know." Since its inauguration in 2011, the Boot Drop has become a significant economic boon for Prescott, drawing crowds that have surged from roughly 2,000 at its advent to over 20,000 in recent years.
The event pays tribute to Prescott's claim as the home of the world's oldest rodeo, transforming the "blingy" boot into an Arizona holiday landmark. Despite meteorological predictions signaling a 30% chance of rain showers, Prescott eNews reported mild temperatures in the 40s and only a slight breeze for the evening, conditions permitting a festive yet comfortable environment to ring in 2026. Fireworks followed the boot's descent, punctuating the start of another year with a sky ablaze, and marking Prescott's place on the map for revelers far and wide.
