San Antonio police went to IDEA Judson early Thursday after a report of a prohibited item on or near campus. The school was briefly on lockdown while officers investigated. Officials said students and staff were safe and there was no known active threat.
What happened
The report was logged around 7:55 a.m. in the 13400 block of Judson Road, which runs past the IDEA Judson campus, according to the San Antonio Express-News. That entry led multiple San Antonio Police Department units to respond to the area.
School response
IDEA San Antonio officials said there was an unconfirmed report of a prohibited item on school grounds and that campus leaders were coordinating with law enforcement, KENS5 reported. “Students and staff are safe. As this is an ongoing investigation, all further questions should be directed to the San Antonio Police Department,” the school’s statement said.
Police investigation
A San Antonio Police Department public information officer confirmed to the San Antonio Express-News that officers were at the scene and investigating the report. Officials did not immediately release information about any suspects or possible charges as the investigation continued.
On the scene
A KENS5 crew reported arriving at the campus and seeing police activity in the area while officers canvassed for evidence and witnesses. Both outlets described the situation as developing and said updates would be provided as investigators learn more.
The San Antonio Police Department and IDEA San Antonio did not immediately release additional details. More information is expected as the investigation moves forward and the school continues to communicate with families through official channels.
