The Raleigh Police Department has recently concluded its annual Booze It & Lose It campaign, a concerted effort to crack down on impaired driving and improve road safety. This initiative, a partnership with the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program, spanned from December 15, 2025 to January 4, and sought to directly address dangerous driving behaviors during the holiday season.
In a social media post marking the end of the campaign, the Raleigh Police Department shared a sober view of the enforcement efforts and their results. Over the three-week period, officers made 38 DWI arrests, 36 of which involved drivers over the age of 21 and two under 21. The report went on to include that there were 358 speeding charges laid out, among them eight violations in work zones. They also noted a significant number of other infractions such as 57 seat belt and four child safety seat violations, as well as 137 charges against drivers with revoked licenses and 70 charges for driving without insurance. The campaign managed to also apprehend 216 wanted persons, recover 46 vehicles, and levy 149 felony charges amidst other operational statistics.
