Powell Drive Park is set to host a flurry of activities this February, bringing winter-themed fun with snowballs instead of snowflakes. According to a recent announcement from the City of Raleigh, the park will host the Snowball Showdown, a winter-themed twist on the classic Capture the Flag game where children compete using soft faux snowballs, encouraging active, screen-free play.
Two spirited teams, the Snowmen and the Polar Bears, will face off in a playful battle to capture the flag while dodging soft snowballs. Sessions are scheduled for children ages 6 to 7 at 5:45 p.m. and ages 8 to 9 at 7:15 p.m., with all activities taking place on Friday, Feb. 20, the city detailed.
The event costs $10 per child for an hour of play. After the games, participants can enjoy treats like gooey s’mores. According to Raleigh Parks and Recreation, the event offers a fun-filled winter celebration with games, outdoor activities, and plenty of laughter. Children interested in joining the Snowmen or Polar Bears can sign up on the official event page, with all snowballs designed to be soft and safe.
