Backfiring exhaust noise has declined in Rancho Cordova following enforcement efforts by local police. According to a recent post by the Rancho Cordova Police Department on Facebook, a community complaint about a vehicle with a disruptively loud exhaust system led to police action. After the complaint was filed, RCPD Motor Units spent time patrolling the neighborhood to address the issue.
The loud noise from the vehicle drew the attention of Officer Sacco, who then observed it on a public roadway. Officer Sacco identified the car as the source of the complaint and, “noted several violations present on the car.” Following this discovery, the officer made a traffic stop and cited the driver for the original complaint – loud, backfiring exhaust – and dished out additional citations for other vehicle code violations. RCPD made a point to underscore their ongoing commitment to community safety and comfort in the same social media post, “The Rancho Cordova Police Department receives numerous traffic complaints from citizens throughout the year, and we do our best to respond to them as soon as practical to ensure the safety and comfort of our community!”
Loud exhaust systems are becoming a growing problem in suburban areas, creating noise pollution and safety concerns that are often linked to reckless driving. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting neighborhood disturbances.
