The Reno Police Department reported a significant arrest after responding to gunfire calls in North Reno on the evening of Sunday. Residents in the 5700 block of Golden Eagle Drive reported hearing rapid shots and smelling gunpowder around 9:40 p.m., according to the Reno Police Department's post.
At the scene, officers found numerous spent cartridge casings and muddy footprints outside a neighboring home, later matched to suspect Jason Baker. Baker, a convicted felon who had failed to register, was detained. A search of his home uncovered four firearms, magazines, body armor, a handgun matching the casings, and about 11.5 pounds of marijuana.
Baker faces multiple charges, including illegal discharge of a firearm in a public place, possession of firearms and body armor as a prohibited person, and possession of 11.5 pounds of marijuana.
Baker, 44, faces charges including discharging a firearm in public, four counts of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and drug-related offenses. The case remains under investigation, and police say further updates may be released as proceedings continue.
