It's a silent predator in the comfort of our own homes, and yet, we often neglect its presence: carbon monoxide (CO). The Renton Regional Fire Authority took to social media to remind the public of the dangers of this colorless, odorless gas, which can prove fatal in high concentrations.
"Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a toxic gas that can be fatal if breathed in at high concentrations," warns the Fire Authority, noting that people cannot detect it on their own. To stay safe, they recommend properly installing and regularly testing CO alarms. These devices, conveniently installed in homes, are both simple and effective; they stand as vigilant protectors of our domestic sanctuaries, though they are often ignored until they sound.
The simple installation of a CO detector, as reported by the Fire Authority, can be the difference between life and death. Located near bedrooms or on every level of a home, these alarms provide an important line of defense.
